why take five?
There are 2 distinct ideas behind the name Take Five Reflexology.
The first known use of the phrase take five was in 1916. It says - let’s relax; let’s take some time off from what we are doing. “We've been at it long enough, let's take five.”
Then, in 1959 Dave Brubeck recorded the song Take Five. It is known for its unique 5/4 time signature, the song marked a departure from standard jazz meters. It too asked you to take five. You couldn’t continue to dance without changing your step.
Reflexology is also known for its uniqueness. It is bodywork, but it is not massage. It has a distinctive time signature, just like the song. I invite you to experience the unique rhythm of foot reflexology. Are you ready to take five?
Reflexology is a protocol of manual techniques, such as thumb and finger-walking, hook and backup, and rotating on a point, applied to specific reflex areas predominantly on the feet and hands.
These techniques stimulate the complex neural pathways linking body systems, supporting the body’s efforts to function optimally. The effectiveness of reflexology is recognized worldwide by various national health institutions and the public at large as a distinct complementary practice within the holistic heath field.
