What Products do I use?

During my training as a reflexologist, I had the opportunity to try many different types of lotions, oils, and body butters. It was interesting to see that everyone in our class chose something different to use.

I chose to start my sessions with Shea Butter.

The reason for my choice is how it feels when I use it both on myself and on a client’s feet. I do not want the feet to be too slippery, as it stops me from being most effective when working on a reflex area. But, I also want both my hands and your feet to be smooth and moisturized enough to make it a pleasant experience.

you can read more about Shea Butter further down this post

I also use Badger Balm products at the end of each session when I do want to glide and have your feet be a little more slippery. I have Badger products in 3 flavor profiles.

  • Teatree & Peppermint

  • Lavender, Balsam & Bergamont

  • Ginger, Arnica & Cayenne

SHEA BUTTER INFORMATION

Botanical name: Vitellaria paradoxa

Botanical family: Sapotaceae

Suitability: All skin types.

Allergies: Although shea butter is unlikely to trigger allergic reactions if you have a nut allergy you might be sensitive to this product.

EFFECTIVE MOISTURIZER (HYDRATES SKIN): Shea butter is an effective moisturizer. It soothes eczema and conditions the skin. Great for damaged and/or dry skin. Its high oleic acid content makes it ideal for our skin (as it is compatible with the sebum we naturally produce). It prevents moisture loss on the skin and also heals chapped lips. It can soften dry, cracked skin on knees, hands, heels, and elbows. Stearic acid also helps to improve moisture retention and the phytosterols also can act as a great moisturizer. Allantoin will protect the skin, and polyphenols can help soften the skin and moisturize it.

HEALING PROPERTIES (REPAIRS SKIN): Wound-healing and skin-repairing properties. Oleic acid has anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties; stearic acid helps to repair the skin. Vitamin A is good for eczema, psoriasis, blemishes, and skin allergies. The phytosterols help your skin with anti-inflammatory properties such as reducing redness, itching, and irritation, aiding skin recovery. The allantoin helps the regeneration of cells and speeds up the skin’s natural processes when healing wounds. The natural tocopherols help protect the skin from free radicals.

ANTIOXIDANT & ANTIBACTERIAL PROPERTIES: Rich in antioxidant carotenoids, Vitamin E (tocopherol), and tocotrienols. Catechin compounds have anti-bacterial properties.
